Shock Down Travel

Many experienced racers use the shock down travel to tune their cars. Now, with the 1RC Racing Shock Assembly Tool, making this adjustment is easier than ever. Here is a brief technical tip to help you understand the effects of adjusting your shock length on your race car.
For oval racing, when you increase the down travel in the rear shocks and lift off the throttle, the longer rear down travel allows more weight to transfer to the front of the car, adding more pressure to the front tires and providing more steering as you enter the turn. When you add down travel to the front and exit the corner on power, more weight will transfer to the rear, providing more rear traction. Conversely, when you limit the down travel, the opposite occurs, effectively giving you less rear traction with less front down travel, since less weight is transferred to the rear when the throttle is applied. With less rear down travel, you will experience less steering entering the turn due to the reduction of weight transfer to the front of the car.
To start, set each shock to 7mm of down travel and then tune from there depending on what you want out of the car.
